The shifter very often sticks when trying to get it in 3rd gear and I have to pull it out and try again. I don't even trust them to fix it. This may be the 1 in 10,000 case for Honda but I feel they should take care of those exceptions. I am taking my car to my dealership to see what is wrong. Not only that I have to put in 2 quarts of oil every another time I fill up. I am afraid that I could be on the highway and it just completely stop working and cause an accident. The vehicle feels as if it will stall.
I had to have my clutch replaced at 4k miles. Well then they called back the following Monday and said there was no reason why the clutch and transmission would go out unless it was customer abuse. They said there wasn't a way for me to prove it but that both clutch and transmission wouldn't have gone out unless I had done something to it. It seems like it does not want to grab third gear. This may lead to a momentary lapse in concentration and at times a somewhat loss of control of the vehicles driveability when this occurs abruptly and unexpectedly. The dealership mechanic blamed my wife's shifting technique for the gear wear, but she drove a Cavalier shift for 5 years previously and it's still running great. Also I have had problems with third gearin my transmission. To replace the linkage would be thousands of dollars. Was told to try and notice if it was when the car was cold or hot when problem takes place? Honda America has declined any help towards payment. I bought a 2007 Honda Civic late February '09. I have taken my car several times after this incident to prevent it from happening again, and they say they cant make my car do the same thing that happens when I drive it. I see no reason why I should have to pay for the parts, since I consider the problem to be a factory defect. Thought being new car could not be a problem.
He responded well maybe it slipped into reverse. Called service at Honda dealership. I am having a hell of a time with this one. So I had it towed to the dealership and they said my transmission was out and they were going to have to tear it down and find out if it was manufacturer defect or customer abuse to see if it'd be covered by warranty. I love the car, it is a blast to drive, but I brought Honda because of the makers rep with great cars.
